When you own a garden, great responsibility comes along with it. Not only does the garden owner require maintaining the plot but also he needs to ensure that it is done correctly. Plot maintenance is integral in gardening services. When you own a great plot, you ensure that the soil is in good condition. This will foster the development and growth more plants and trees. To maintain a plot there are essentially seven steps. Each of these steps is crucial and cannot be overlooked. From time to time, each of them needs to be practice for better results. Any professional gardening services in Mississauga or gardening services in Brampton offers all of these services at affordable rates, to ensure a healthy land with good soil.

Watering

Watering is one of the main things to do and check when it comes to soil. Check the moisture of the root zone. Small seedlings have light roots so while they grow, they dig deep. In such a situation, you need to keep a check of the moisture content present in the water. Plants cannot develop if moisture is available only at the surface. During dry seasons, plants need deep watering, ensure that water provision is deep. Cultivate the soil before watering. Loose and aerated soils absorb more water.

Mulching

In the process, ensure that mulch is spread at least 3 inches over vegetable beds to reduce water loss and suppress weed growth. Dry and organic mulches add nutrients to the soil and they build the soil structure. Using them from time to time will improve the soil bed. Newspaper or plastic mulch can also be used as an alternative.

Fertilizing

Perform a soil test before adding any type of fertilizer. Without a soil test, adding fertilizer is just an utter waste of time and money. The best fertilizer for any soil is an organic or a mineral one. Compost can be used as fertilizer. They are slow releasing fertilizer.  If your plants are placed at minimum spacing or you practice succession plating, the soil needs extra dressing.

Weeding

Weeds are not good for plants. As they vie for water, space, nutrients and light, they cause damage to the garden. Weeds create a seed bank in the soil, which may sprout, into more weeds in time. Remove all weeds along with their roots. The easiest way to do is simply by pulling them when the soil is little moist after the rain.

Pest problems, deadheading, trimming, and pruning are few other things that you need to check at the same time. Keep sure to perform a monthly check.
